Your Questions About Skilled Worker Canada 2011

Charles asks…

could i be upgraded from low skilled worker to skilled worker?

i am categorized as low skilled worker in canada (alberta to be exact) and my work permit under this category expires april 2011.since there is this policy that limits us (under this category) to work for just 4 years, could there be a chance for me to acquire a new working permit but in a skilled worker category?i badly need sensible advice.i want to stay in Canada.what option is left for me before my work permit expires?considering that a ban of at least 6 years is imposed before i could reapply under this low skilled worker category?..besides Canada is now limiting this category to minimize migrant worker abuse and exploitation.is there a legal process that i need to go through just in case?please help me find a way.thank you very much.

ONLY if you attend university and get a degree (or complete an apprenticeship) in one of the jobs that are on the in demand list – and you need to go home to do this.
Below is the list of skilled jobs for which immigration visas and work permits are issued – if you dont have one of these jobs then you are not eligible to immigrate

G’day,
For Australia… I strongly recommend that you re-post this question in the other parts of Y!A like:
Politics & Government > Immigration OR Travel > Australia. There will be an answerer called Ozmaniac that frequented the areas and has an extremely good knowledge on Australian immigration system.
Good luck.

i would really appreciate if you could provide me details regarding how should i apply for these countries. i would prefer Australia but the one that is easy to go i will choose that path

Diana answers:

Not possible. You can’t just move on skilled worker visa to look for a job in Canada or Australia. Check with the Canadian Embassy near you, and ask for any Canadian job fairs coming to Manchester. Another thought, have you thought of a Career in U.K.? since you are a graduate from UK and working in UK on a post student work permit! what the hell you thinking of making this split step to Canada or Australia!!
