Your Questions About Work Canada Visa

Carol asks…

How easy is it to get a visa to work in canada?

I am in love with Canada and I have always wanted to live there. I am a nurse and I was wondering if it is easy to get a work visa. I have been nursing for two years, I am sick of america and I want to move. Will it be easy to get a work visa?
I <3 New Zealand. I will think about it. I probably won't move for another 6 months- 1 year because I just had a baby 4 months ago. Thanks for the advice

Diana answers:

You would need to apply for a nursing license in the province in which you want to work. They will assess your education and experience and decide if you are eligible to write the CRNE licensing exam. The minimum requirement for being an RN in Canada is a BSN degree so if you have less than that you will not be granted a license..You would have to also apply for a work visa. If you go to cic.gc.ca you can find out more.

what are the requirements for someone to getting a work visa in Canada?

my friend is from mexico, he lived in Canada for 2 years. how can he improve his chances of qualifying for a work visa? please help thanks so much

Diana answers:

A work visa is not like applying for permanent residency. There are no chances. It isn’t a lottery or competition. If you meet the qualifications, you get a visa. If you don’t… You don’t.
You need a job offer from a Canadian company which has permission from Immigration Canada to hire a foreign worker. You then submit the application — along with financial statements, criminal background checks, and medical exams. Baring being a criminal, ill health, or broke… Valid job offer + application = work visa.
As to how to get a job… If he has been living in Canada for two years — presumably under a student visa or as a dependent of parents with work visas, diplomatic status, etc. — then he should have already found work in Canada or at least has some idea where to land a job. In the worst case, he (or his parents) should be familiar with Immigration Canada’s processes.

How long does it take to get a work visa in Canada?

How long does it take for a US citizen to get a working visa for Canada? Thank you.

Diana answers:

That depends on if the job needs an LMO or not.
LMO = labour market opinion.
Some LMOs can take as long as 6 months to be completed.
