About Immigration Authority

Thomas asks…

According to the Constitution, who has authority over immigration and naturalization?

Are states allowed to make their own immigration laws?

Diana answers:

Nope, it’s the authority of the federal govt.
State’s rights advocates should remember that california tried increase the mileage standards of cars sold in their state and were rebuked by the bush admin in court.
So, nutty states who want to make fascist laws that are literally security theater should remember this and if you allow states greater latitude – more regulation on polluters is bound to follow.
Best consult your corporate masters before making your wish lists…

After marriage with a US citizen , does the Immigration officers or any concerned authority, do sudden checks on a conditional green card holder at these places-??

visiting the home ( where the us citizen and the conditional green card holder resides )suddenly, without prior notice or info?
asking sudden ques to the alien;s friends about the couple’s relationship?

Diana answers:

Yes they can. But in all honesty they don’t. Trust me they have bigger fish to fry.
Plus if you have a legit marriage then you have nothing to worry about.
