Canada Work Opportunities

Is Shaklee a Scam or Legit Opportunity? - Shaklee Review

I decided to investigate an opportunity called Shaklee due to the number of scams running online, this is what I found out...

Shaklee is a privately-held corporation which manufactures and distributes nutritional products, beauty products, weight-management products and household products. The company has its base in Pleasanton, California, while operations are done in China, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia and Mexico. Products are sold via MLM or multi-level marketing. Reportedly, the corporation has a mixed base of about 750,000 members and distributors.

Company Background

In 1915, Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee started to sell Shaklee's Vitalized Minerals in San Francisco, before the use of vitamins became fully rampant and understood. In 1956, Dr. Shaklee started the Shaklee Corporation, together with his two sons to create more nutritional supplements. The MLM business model was selected to market the product. In 1960, the chiropractor started to market organic and biodegradable cleaning materials. Marketing approaches revolved around the ideas of natural and environmentally friendly. At the time, these approaches were not yet common.

Marketing the Product

People who join the multi-level marketing program are provided with all the tools, training and network to make good business highly possible. Shaklee boasts of providing people with limitless network and income potential. You get to know other successful individuals in the field such as entrepreneurs and executives, backed by the company.

Shaklee markets its products as "Always green, always works and always safe." The product line includes Shaklee Vitalizer and Vivix, Cinch for weight control, Enfuselle skin care and Get Clean home kit. All these products claim to provide all-natural solutions for your body and home. All the products are also considered generally safe for kids. Shakleekids and Shakleebabies were made to target the youngest customers specifically.

From the research I've done so far, I can say this seems to be a legit opportunity.

However, the MAJOR PROBLEM I see is the marketing plan. This company teaches its reps to prospect family & friends, do home parties, buy leads and distribute brochures.. I don't believe this to be a solid marketing plan. With the Internet, business can be leveraged to reach millions across the globe.
