Government of Canada proposing new changes to immigrant skilled worker program - Part 6

CIC wants more strict demands from Canadian employers and job offer is needed to restrain possiblity to immigration fraud.

Arranged empoyment is an advantage that is available to skilled workers and professionals .

  • It can improve their chances of having their FSW application approved.
  • Applicants can obtain 15 extra points and
  • CIC waives the requirement for settlement funds.

Arranged employment is a "promise" to an intending immigrant or a Temporary foriengn worker, with a valid work permit, in Canada, to hire them permanently if they are accepted as a Federal Skilled worker.

This offer or promise must be backed by Human Resource and Social Development Caanda(HRSDC) positive opinion, and employers apply for that opinion and is communicated to CIC Canada to issue the visa for the beneficiary, the new Canadaian skilled worker.

Arranged employment beneficiaries are doing well according to CIC. They earn more money and they have immediate jobs upon arrival.

Intended occupation of the Arranged Employment beneficiary must be on the list of the "Federal Skilled Worker shortage list", and applicants must provide official language test results.( Minimum language requirements required)

Arranged employment usually targets unregulated occupation on the FSW shortage list, and are processed at HRSDC in 8-12 weeks, and are placed in processing with CIC, when FSW application is received.

It also helps employers minimize the risk of hiring a foriegn workers permanently, to find out later that they are not genuine or unable to be admitted into Canada. It also serve the puprose of the Canada immigration policy to admit people in Canada who can become economically established.

CIC likes this program and consider it very important, so the proposed changes could require signing a document to guarantee hiring the immigrant, and could include dificulties for employers who do not comply with hiring the immigrant.

Note: If you are applying under one of the 29 eligible occupations, as of June 26, 2010, a maximum of 20,000 Federal Skilled Worker applications will be considered for processing in the following 12 months. Within the 20,000 cap, a maximum of 1,000 Federal Skilled Worker applications per eligible occupation will be considered for processing each year.

These limits do not apply to applications with an offer of arranged employment.

To kick start your arranged employment or work visa job search, you will need access to Canadian employers. Every job search begins with a solid list of potential employers. I can provide you with lists of solid Canadian employers in your targeted industry and provice or city in Canada, and show you how to network with these potential employers.*
